NEW DELHI: Virat Kohlinotched up yet another milestone going past the 5000-run mark in Tests during the second session of day one of the third and the final Test between India and Sri Lankaat the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi on Saturday.
After opting to field first, Kohli found himself in the middle after the departures of opener Shikhar Dhawn and Cheteshwar Pujara for the same score of 23. On a batting wicket, both Dhawan and Pujara gifted their wickets away. Starting the Test match at 4,975 runs, Kohli got together with Murlai Vijay and went on to play a backfoot punch off Suranga Lakmal to bring up the milestone.
- Kohli became the first international captain to hit three successive tons in a three-Test series.
- Kohli also completed his individual 5000 runs in the longest version of the game
- Kohli now has 11 international hundreds in a season -- one less than Tendulkar's 12
